soundpocket, a charitable organization devoted solely to artistic practices in sound, is currently seeking enthusiastic 1) Programme Leader and 2) Editor/ Researcher who have an interest in a career in the arts.

The Programme Leader (Full-time) is a new position soundpocket creates, to lead and coordinate artists’ support and public engagement programmes.

Chief Responsibilities
– reports to Executive Director on the organizational level, and the Manager of Curatorial Affairs on the programme level
– leads existing soundpocket projects aimed for building artists’ communities
– leads existing soundpocket projects aimed for non-art and fellow citizens communities
– identifies and initiates partners and programmes that align with soundpokcet’s values
– becomes a member of soundpocket’s other project and programme teams and contribute to them
– supports and maintains soundpocket’s relationship with artists’, citizens’, and clients’ relationship

Knowledge and abilities
– excellent in Chinese and English practical writing
– excellent in spoken Cantonese and English
– careful and prudent in verbal and written communication
– competent in art administration (eg. filing, personnel coordination, basic budgeting, proposal writing)
– experienced in e-publicity and e-marketing
– competent in basic visual communication skills
– competent in website maintenance

Quality of character
– curious of the world
– keen to learn and take up challenging tasks
– passionate in and committed to art (its development in Hong Kong and its manifestations in diverse cultural contexts)
– willing to engage in dialogues with people within and outside the art community

The Editor/ Researcher (Full-time) will be leading all research and publication for soundpocket.

Chief Responsibilities
– reports to Executive Director on the organizational level, and the Manager of Curatorial Affairs on the programme level
– lead and coordinate all research and publication
– identify potential writers, editors and translators
– liaise with freelance writers, contributors and translators.
– generate and complete Feature Stories for The Library by soundpocket
– supports programme and corporate publicity writing

Knowledge and abilities
– excellent in Chinese and English practical writing
– excellent in spoken Cantonese and English
– careful and prudent in verbal and written communication
– competent in art administration (eg. filing, personnel coordination, basic budgeting, proposal writing)
– experienced in e-publicity and e-marketing
– good knowledge of local cultural issues and the ability to engage with them critically
– experience in developing and managing publications will be advantageous
