“Paging” is a site-specific, audio-kinetic installation consisting of found objects and motors. Artist Rie Nakajima creates an installation that occupies different corners of the bookshop, with DIY electronic units that she has made from porcelain, paper, string, wire, and wood, etc. Some are vivacious and spirited, others silent and subtle, each unit has a unique character as distinct as each publication on the shelves. While a bookshop usually communicates with its visitors via printed text and visuals, Rie’s work reconstructs the soundscape and ambiance of the shop space in the hopes of connecting with the audience and readers through sound and movement.

Poet Kwan Tin-lam will create poems in response to the exhibits: to the viewing, the listening, and the experience of them. This responsive poetry by Kwan, written in Chinese, will be exhibited in the bookshop and cafe at various times during the exhibition period.

在地裝置〈呼應〉是一件由現成物及馬達組合而成的發聲動態裝置。藝術家中島吏英將多個由瓷器、紙張、繩子、電線、木材等物料製成的小型電子組合，拼湊成一件佔據書店不同角落的裝置，每組小東西跟書店內林林種種的出版物一樣各具性格：有的活潑好動、有的沉默低調；書店內的書刊以文字與視覺觸動人，中島的作品則更希望以聲音與動態接觸觀眾讀者，重構書店空間的聲景與氛圍。

是次展覽同時邀得詩人關天林透過文字創作與中島吏英的裝置作「呼應」。關氏的詩語迴響將於展覽期間，陸續出現於書店及咖啡廳。

Upon finishing her installation and performance in Hong Kong, Rie Nakajima will join artist Alvin Lee Siu-hin in Taipei and Tainan for performances and cultural exchange activities.

完成香港的佈展工作及演出後，中島吏英將聯同藝術家李肇軒到訪台灣，於台北及台南作演出及交流。
